2004 Honda Pilot drivers seat heater

2004 Honda Pilot V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 98000 miles
My 04 Pilot has electric seat heaters. The drivers side heater gets extremely hot in one spot under my right thigh. I cannot turn the heater on for more than about 5 minutes without it getting uncomfortably hot. Is this an indication that the seat heater element needs replacing? If so is this a procedure that a reasonable accomplished do it yourselfer can tackle?
