I had a new battery installed by a Honda Dealer 3 months ago and now my cables seem to be too big to stay connected to the positive terminal. Cables look fine. Are there differences in batteries? Could the dealer have installed the wrong battery size? I hate to go through the cost of replacing the cables if the problem is due to the battery. Thanks for your help.

Hi cthayer,

There are 2 different sizes for battery terminals but they vary by quite a lot. If the terminals are only slightly out whereby it is loose, then the terminal has been overtightened over time and this has enlarged the clamps causing them to be loose.

You have 3 options.

1. Rreplace the terminals with aftermarket parts, which requires cutting off the cable terminal end and fitting on the new terminals.

2. Use a set of pliers to reduce the clamp size by straightening them out at the curved area which has been deformed.

3. Replace the cables with OEM parts.
