2003 Honda Pilot How to remove the interior air filter

2003 Honda Pilot 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 36000 miles
I have located the interior air filter behind the glove box in my Honda Pilot. I removed the glove box.
However, there is a double bar blocking the way of removing the air filter. I can remove the metal one, but the plastic one is connected to the dash covering. How do you get it out of the way?

you have to cut the plastic piece and throw it away when you are done.
