Hi, I own a 1998 Honda Acord and it has about 175,000 miles on it. The car presents a problem after driving it over 2 hrs on a trip. After reaching 2 hrs of driving, the rpms suddenly accelorates to 5 or more, but the car does not go anymore. It simply drops speed until it comes to a complete stop. After about 2 hrs of waiting, we can then start the car up again, and it will be fine, but once 2 hrs come up, the same problem again. What is wrong? What needs to be done?

Automatic tranny I assume? Check tranny fluid level and ensure that the coolant lines to the radiator are in good condition, that the radiator fan works. Sounds like it could be overheating the tranny fluid. You could have the fluid changed and flushed through the radiator.
