I have a 95 honda acord. My odomoter went out for a while then it started to record miles but stopped at 30 and now it doesn't work. Is there a way I can check to see of a cable is lose or something?

Honda no longer uses a cable for the speedometer. There are 2 possibilities both of which I have personally experienced.
The first, and most likely, is that the VSS (Variable Speed Sensor) has failed. It is typically located in the top of the transmission attached with 2 bolts and has one wire harness plugged into it. I bought mine off of E-bay for $50, spent 15 minutes installing it and it works perfectly.
The second possibility is that your instrument cluster has a short or is failing. If you determine that the VSS is working correctly you can find an instrument cluster from a junk yard or off the internet. Takes about 1 hour to change. Hope this helps.
