My car wont start

I have a 99 honda civiclx 1.6 engine 172, ooo miles
One day my car started and fell dead so I thought it was the battery. Went to get the battery tested and the said it was no good. Went to get another battery and accidently crossed the battery cable, and come to fiind out it was not the battery. Now it will turn but not all the way over and will not crank. I guy looked at and 1 guy thought is was the car computer, starter or distrubitor? I dont know and hopefully you will be able to help me.

Terminology. Cranks to me is the engine turns over and over but doesn't start. It either just cranks or cranks and then starts.

So, does it crank and do it with as much gusto as it used to have? Is it weak?

During the cranking, is there spark at the plugs?

Well I don't know what you mean by spark? The car wants to crank, nothing has change it has plenty gusto. You are correct the engine turns over, but it just wont start.
