1997 Honda Civic DX Hatchback, 4 cyl, 135k miles.

The engine constantley is squeaking, whether I'm idle, driving, or stopped the squeaking persists.

Although it never gets louder or quieter just stays the same all the time.

My question is what is causing this squeak and what are some possible fixes?

Thank you!

It may be a simple as a belt. While it is running spray some brake clean or similiar on it and see if it immediatly stops. IF so replace the belt. IT may also have a weak belt tenioner that is not keeping enough pressure on the belt or causing the tensioner pully to not run true to the belt. Lastly it may be a bearing going bad on one of the pullies.

Okay I'll give those a try.

Is there an estimate on the max something like this would cost?

Depends on what it turns out to be. Maybe $500 on the max. But it may just be a belt.$100?
