92 honda civic 131000

hi guys, my a/c hasnt been cool for a long time now and after taking a look at it, it turned out that my a/c unit needed to be replaced due to a bad a/c switch. A friend of mine looked at it and i remember him jumping the wire harness with a couple of wires and it seemed to have worked then and i could also see my radiator fan turn on at the same time.Now that ive replaced the a/c unit the only thing that seems to have changed is that I can "hear" it click on but the fan doesnt turn on and its still not cold! whats the problem?
