Oil light is on, but checked dip stick and has plenty of oil.
Is the car safe to drive?

Very serious matter. Have it checked by an expert. Oil indicator light could be due to sensors or wirings failing or worse, oil pressure is low, no oil in critical parts would cost you your engine.
Do u hear abnormal noise from the engine? If no, open the oil filler cap, try to see if oil is splashing inside. If oil is splashing good, you can drive it to a nearby shop. Have the problem checked ASAP.
