2000 Honda Civic Automatic 128000 miles

hi I recently replaced one of my oxygen sensors and my distributor cap, my check engine light is on again and it says oxygen sensor again..the car sputters while idling at stop lights and jerks while it is changing gears. my question is when do I stop throwing money away in repairs or do you think this as simple as replacing sensor again

You have two oxygen sensors. Which one did you replace? And what code are you throwing?

the mechanic said I replaced the less expensive of the two..I hope that is helpful as for the code it is throwing I do not have that info yet
