286000 miles 5 speed stick shift
Front wheel drive, at
250000 miles replaced head.
This was also happening before head changed.
Every once in awhile the engine seem to die down and then pick back up, for about three times. It will not do this all of the time it is sporadic, I have changed the head, fuel filter, air filter, plugs, coil rotor button, distributer cap, wires, to no avail. If you can help me find the problem I sure would be grateful!

That could be a failing O2 that is slowly going out. It could be a vacuum leak that is not that bad yet. You will have a tough time nailing that one down until it is happening and then it does not appear to give you much time.
