1999 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 111K miles

Hello,
My A/C blower control knob is not controlling the speed. I can turn the knob and at one point blower stops completely but if I change that position, the blower blows full speed. So the blower is either completely switched off or runs at full speed. Also I would like to mention that the position of the knob where blower turn on is right at the end where speed is maximum. Nothing happens in between that position and the 0th position. Hope I make it clear if not I will try to explain again :-)
Thanks,
Pankaj.

One more thing, The A/C functionality is perfect. Heating and cooling has not problems whatsoever.

Sounds like a problem with the fan speed resistor. It is located in the heating-a/c box right behind the glove box. Use atest light to see if it has power in adn out on different fan speeds, if power comes in and not out the resistor is bad, if nothing in coming in then the selector switch is bad

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I could figure out before I got your reply :-) Mainly through other internet sites. I had to toil hard to get that part out because for that the blower fan assembly had to be taken out. By the time I took it out, Dealers were closed and I am going to buy the part tomorrow. If it works then it will be the cheapest fault repair ! A local repair shop who is usually reasonable, was asking $185. Glad that I looked around the web. Hopefully I will save $150 bucks. The selector switch should be fine because the A/C comes on, as long as I turn it to position 1 or 2.
Thanks.
