Engine Cooling problem
1998 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My engine goes overheating and the funny part which I don't understand is that when I rev up the enging to hit 5 to 6 rpm aroung 4 to 5 times the temp will go down. The overheat only occurs while going up a hill. Please advise.

What is the relation between hitting the gas up to 5to 6 RPM (rev up the engine) and the engine temprature. Isn't it supposed to overheat when hitting on the gas Vigorously why the temprature is going down?

Thank you
Charles

The higher the rev's the faster the water pump turns and moves coolant thru-The thermostat controls the engine temperature by opening and closing-could be partiallly closed-
