Stuck in high idle

Honda Accord 1987 2.0 liter 197000 miles. After coming home from 2 weeks away at Christmas, during which car lay unused, the engine refuses to go out of high idle, despite driving long distances at high RPM. Carb cleaner put into air intake and linkages; gas treatment; nothing works. Not only do I object to wasting gas when at stoplight, it is also unsafe, as with an automatic transmission, I must LEAN on the brake to keep it stopped. If I put it in neutral, the idle will go above 3000RPM immediately. My suspicion is gunk accrued in an air intake idle valve somewhere but I can't find it on cursory inspection.
thanks for any info!
