Honda Accord 1998, 109,000. Thank you for your time. Today I got into my car and started as normal and everything was working properly, however when I pushed the break in and tried to put it in to reverse the release switch was not enabling me to put it into gear. Do you have any recommendations on how to fix this problem. I called for helped today and they informed me of a temporary fix to get it started. How can I fix it completely. Thank you for your time.

You have an automatic tranny and the temporary fix was to insert the key in the slot to enable the tranny to come out of park. Correct? The problem can be tranny related and it can be related to the switch on the brake pedal that senses the brake being applied and then allows the tranny to be shifted. Check engine light on?

It is an automatic trasmission and it does seem to be the brake release. However if I can't fix that what type of part would I need? As far as the transmission itself being an issue, ever since I got the timing belt fixed it has been hesitating in the beginning of the start up stage. (First 10 min). Any info?
