Whenever I turn my wheel the front wheels make a kind of squeaking sound and gets a higher pitch as I step on the gas. What could this be?

Check out your power steering, that is assuming that you have power steering. Spray some belt dressing(or belt conditioner) and see if the noise goes away, if it does change the belt out. Is it doing it when you make a hard turn or anytime you turn the wheel?

Yeah, it makes the noise everytime I turn the wheel. When I popped the hood it sounded like the noise was coming from the belts so I may have answered my own question. Is this something I should take into the shop or would I be able to fix it myself?

It is rather easy to do. You need to loosen the tightener on the power steering pump, the bolt on the slide adjuster, and the mounting bolt. Take off the old belt and put on the new one. The longest section of belt between two pulleys should have about 3/4 of an inch of play up and down.

Is there any way to replace the seal in the rack and pinion piece or does the entire rack and pinion need to be replaced? Also, if it is to be replaced, does the power steering pump need to be replaced as well?
