Hi, I have a 2005 Honda Accord, and it rides fine. This morning I accidently put it on N instead of D gear and droved almost a block on N! I've heard the strange puffing noise - like it was working on steam - I stopped the car, shifted back to D, but the noise didn't go away. I drove for 3 more minutes, came back home and left the car on the driveway. Before I take it to the shop - I'd like to have an idea of what might have happened?
Thank you in advance.

Hi lilyk05,

The vehicle should not be moving when in N so I am surprised how you were able to get it moving.

If it does happen, most probably the gear shift linkages are out of adjustment and the noise you mentioned could be due to improper gear shift valve position.

It could also be due to electrical controls not getting the correct signal due to the incorrect gear shift position and shift valve.
