I read that in years 1998 to 2002 there been many complaints on Honda transmission failures.
Given VIN I understood this car was made in Japan not usa. My question:Is it likely the tranmission will fail in forseeable future? Does it make any difference being made in Japan? If I need a rebuilt transmission later on will quality likely be any better than original?

Hi Lurose12,

Whether made in Japan or USA, the transmission seems to fail more often than it should. Nobody would dare to guarantee that it would not fail.

Take note that regular AT Fluid change is very important for keeping the trans last but still no guarantee as the problem seem to be design or manufacturing related.

You can see rebuilts too do not have a good reputation for lasting.
