I checked my engine light computer, and it gave me a Code 12. I checked online and it said Code 12 EGR lift sensor. What can I do to correct this problem. Thanks.

Hi simonp81,

You need to clean/replace the EGR valve.

The exhaust passage on which the EGR is mounted needs to be cleaned of carbon deposit as well.

Thank you for the information. I changed the EGR Valve and I am still getting a Check Engine light. I unplugged the battery to reset the computer, and the check engine light still came on. Is there anything else that can be done?

Hi simonp81,

Did you use the correct replacement part? Check the wire colors and position in the socket.

Did you clear the passage under the EGR of carbon deposits?

Did you recheck the code and is it still # 12?

The EGR light should not come on immediately after starting, it need some running time before it would appear.
