My 1991 Honda Accord DX seems to be stuck in "sport" mode. The green light comes on when I start it and it stays on the whole time. I have tried using the key in the keyhole next to the shifter as it says in the manual and the first time it seemed to work but the next time I started the car the green light came back on and stayed on. How can I get it out of "sport" drive or is it ok to drive it that way and change gears manually? Thank you, WC

Hi wanda2,

Thank you for the donation.

The S mode is operated by a small switch on the gear shift lever, just below the push button for movinhg in and out of Park or Reverse. If you had accidentally pushed on the button, pushing it another time would turn it off.

If the mini button is not responsive, the wires for the circuit could possibly be shorted.

If the light is blinking while driving, which would not allow you to operate the switch, an error has been detected in the control system and you have to retrieve the trouble code to find out what is wrong.

The S mode is applicable for normal driving as well and the only difference would be a longer time frame for it to upshift if aceleration is brisk. Under normal driving conditions, you would not find much difference.
