1986 Honda Accord Tried to push start without the key on.

And now it runs rough and stalls. Did I mess up the timing? It had a new timing belt at 310000k.

Could you supply more info on the fault. You bump started the car and now it is running rough? You have not messed up the timing by bump starting the car? Check plugs/leads battery connection's etc.

Hi Dave,

Wow thank you for the prompt reply. Ok more info. I know the battery is LOW. Just having the flashers on for a few minutes last night killed it. Hence the push start. I didn't know my wife didn't know that the key had to be in the ON position so the car did not start. Then we got a jump start and noticed it running rough, had to keep it revved high to get it home, during which it stopped if we tried to let it idle, but then restarted okay (2 or 3 times). I'll check all the connections after work today. Thanks again. Craig

Thanks for the donation. Check the connections. It is possible the battery being low was the reason for it not idling. Have a battery and alternator checked as well if the problem re-occurs.
