2001 Holden Vectra told by mechanic that wrong brake rotors

Brakes problem
2001 Holden Vectra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 153000 miles

told by mechanic that wrong brake rotors were fitted and that they need to be changed becuase the pads are not connecting properly- just passed a warrant of fitness and brakes feel good so im not sure?

If they are wrong they will be undersized in the diameter, this will greatly reduce the pad life and breaking efficiency, the safety inspection should have picked this up if it is the case, best get a second opinion and if they are wrong get them fixed.
