Corrosion on tail light connector?

1997 GMC Yukon 140000 miles
My tail light on the passenger side went out. When I took it in they fixed the bulb but said there was corrosion on the connector strip; then they said they do not fix these sorts of things. Is there a way to fix it myself or where would be a good place to get it fixed?
