GMC Truck Starter Problem

2004 GMC Truck Four Wheel Drive Automatic 68000 miles
I have a 2004 GMC Duramax 2500 6.6 l diesel auto I have starter problem intermitting grinding on start up have replaced the ring gear have installed a rebuilt starter. Still have the problem . One mech things there may be poor connection and not allowing full current to reach the starter so the starter pinion teeth are not being held firmly against the flywheel gear teeth, is this possible or does anyone know a fix Thank-you Terry Tilley Canada
