2003 GMC Sierra oil pressure light comes on

Took vehicle in due to oil pressure signal, replaced oil
pressure sensor. Signal came back after about a week. Was suggested to replace oil pump, then told engine had sludge. Regular oil changes were done on vehicle. Do you have any suggestions as to problem?
Signal seems to come on only after highway driving.

Are you using the proper weight of oil? Also an engine oil flush would not hurt, there could be sludge built up. Oil pump is possibly becoming weak and failing as well, but you would normally hear some noises due to lack of oil in engine.

Your engine was designed to use SAE 5W30 oil so that would not be the problem.
