Engine Performance problem
1987 GMC Sierra V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100+ miles

The truck will start and idle fine, but when I accelerate the truck begins to hesitate and backfire. The problem started about 2 weeks ago and has progressively gotten worse. Replaced the distributor cap and button, ignition cables, and spark plugs. Also replace the fuel filter. Could you please help.
