1988 GMC S15 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

so I just got this thing to fix it or my 92 blazer
and I was told the starter was screwed up.
we got it going and went to write the bill of sale and now it wont throw the fly wheel over and when it does bite it now just scrapes and makes a horrible sound.
so now I wonder if its the fly wheel or just the starter

can anybody give some good input

I think you should remove the tranny dust shield and have a look at the teeth on the flywheel. If they are OK you have a weak bendix drive on the starter, and can replace that or the whole starter.
