S-10 engine swap

Will a 1986 2.8 f.I. Engine swap with a 1983 2.8 carb engine. Will the long blocks interchange if I swap all the parts from the 83 to the 86 block?

Everything should interchange with no problems. Although a v8 would be well worth the swap.

I went to a engine rebuilder and the shop said a front wheel drive block is different the a rear wheel drive block. Also said that a 86 block does not have a spot for a fuel pump and the cam amy be different but someone else siad the cam part numbers are the same. HELP.
