I have a 92 oldsmoblile Delta 88 Royal 3.8 motor. So far I've changed new gas filter, took out catalytic converter replaced it with a straight pipe in between, new muffler regapped sparkplugs and also replaced tramsmission's neutral safety switch. Can't go no more than 60 kms. On highway. Motor starts to pulsate and stalls. Put back on neutral and car starts okay. Around town drives okay. Please Help!

Does it happen all the time or just when the engine is cold, or hot?

Hey Chevy350guy
The problem always seem to happen after it warms up when I accelerate than it chokes and stalls. When rolling down the highway I put it in neutral and it starts fine. I rev it up put it in gear goes good for a little while then it stalls again. I keep it below 60 kms it runs like a new car anything over that the problem starts again.

May have a faulty torque convertor and it's not engaging into overdrive.

I had a problem similar to this and it turned out to be a faulty ignition model.

The car would periodically die and would start backup but as soon as you shifted to drive it would die again. After a fe minutes the problem would clear up. This continued intermeittently until the module finally died.
