1996 Other GMC Models fuel system issue
Engine Performance problem
1996 Other GMC Models V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 284630 miles
always starts 3-4 seconds....sometimes now after shutdown ,cranks but won't fire unless i put my foot down on accelerator...left for some hours it will fire up again as usual...no visible leaks ,and runs good on the highway ..
ideas?

a fuel filter replacement is a verygood thing to do especially in these type of cases. Alsosome of these trucks during that model year would seem like a failed fuel pump which it did, but you need to get a correct delco one tat includes teh 12" of harness that goes bad and has to be replaced. Especially if you have replaced the fuel pump recently....
