1986 Other GMC Models recurring ignition problem

keeps losing ignition from coil to distributor

welcome to the forum, is the coil in the cap? If it is, check for primary voltage to the coil/cap, pink wire, goes hot when you turn on the key. There may be a tach terminal on the cap, may/may not have anthing plugged into it. Use a testlite at the terminal, lite should pulse, engine cranking? One end of testlite touch to tach terminal, other ground at engine block.
