2004 GMC Envoy rear window

2004 GMC Envoy 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 166000 miles
I have a 2004 gmc envoy xuv. It has a rear tailgate with a sliding rear window. I am trying to replace the rear window regulator in the tailgate. the regulator is broken. My question is how can i get the tailgate to open.

Im not sure I understand. Is the tailgate latch broken as well as the reg for the window? Or the gate wont release due to window position? If the latter, you will need to remove the interior panel to access the latch and manually release it.Be very careful not to break the glass

if the regulator is broken you cant obtain proper window location for the tailgate switch to activate and allow the gate to open. Is there a way to manually open the tailgate and if there is what is it?

You will have to remove the inner panel on the tailgate and manually unlatch it
