Hello. You were recomended by a friend as having given her great advice.

I have a 92 Geo Tracker that I have replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, slides and clutch cable on. However, the clutch continues to tighten up becoming harder to push to the floor and eventually making shifting almost impossible. I initially replaced the (failing) clutch with a heavy duty one from CenterForce. When it started to bind again, we removed the weights as they seemed to be binding on the throwout bearing. When that didn't fix the issue, we went back to a new oem pressure plate and clutch. It lasted about three days without binding and then after adjusting the new cable, made it to the evening of the same day before I was unable to properly shift.

My mechanic and I are both stumped on this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Eric

It is probaly the cable it's self. I had a 1992 and it did the same thing after I replaced the clutch. I had to re route the cluth cable. I tried lubing it up and stuff like that but it did'nt help. There is a clip in the front that holds the cable up try taking the cable out of the clip and let it sit there and try it like that. There is plenty of clips to hold it in place so don't worry about it hanging down or anything.

It seems that the aftermarket clutch cable was the culprit. We went with an OEM cable and haven't had a problem since. That was replaced about a week after submitting this question. I've been driving it daily sometimes up to 300 miles and haven't had an issue. Looks like spending the extra $$$ was what needed to happen.

Thank you for your thoughts.
