A/C Problem on 99 Prizm

I tried my A/C today and it was blowing warm air. What could be the problem?

My sister's car went through the same thing and we had to get some freon added to the A/C system. Her car is a 96 with well over 240,000 kms on it. I can't recall the price of that job at the moment. It was pricey though. My sis called and I asked her. She said it was $200 (Canadian) because they also had to change the hoses.
