2001 Windstar, 3.8L, 75000 miles. When accelerating from a stop and, to a lesser extent, increasing speed while moving, the van shudders and hesitates like the engine is missing. The engine idles smoothly, no warning lights, no smoke, and “sounds” good while accelerating. Could this be a CV joint problem?

my windstar was acctually doing something of the same sort recently during acceleration and even at a steady speed the car would stumble and kind of jerk i began to notice that the rpms would drop at the same time after a while it started to die on me while stopping i had it diagnosed, come to find out the cam shaft sensor that plugs into the alternator was lose which i had the alternator replaced just a few weeks prior the car drives great now.... maybe this will help if not sorry
