Sometimes when i put my 1995 Ford Taursus V6 3.0L 4 door sedan in park, it won't start. I have to reach over the steering wheel with my "left" hand and pull the gear lever very firmly up and toward the driver door, then start the car?

Any idea what causes that?

Otherwise the car drives and shifts OK.
The problem does not happen often (maybe once per week of daily use)

Thanks
Greg

The book says there are no user servicable parts in the shift linkage assembly.

One other thing I noticed when this occured, the car was rolling while in park. I had to step on the brake to stop the car, which is usually not the case when the car is in park.
Thanks again
