Hi there I have a 2002 ford windstar that just hit 100k I have had it into the mechanic about 3 weeks ago because it wouldnt shift into gear. When it came back he said he replaced the powering steering column, 2 days later I cant pop it into gear again unless I start it turn it off put it in neutral turn it off again restart and shift into drive. Also the emergancy brake light comes on and off the abs light is now on and the speedometer jumps around. Oh and the door ajar light! Yeah I know sounds nuts but noone can seem to figure it out please help I'm starnded with 4 kid's.

Sounds like you have a group of wires that have been chewed up or a harness fallin apart. Cant shift, that could be the wireing issue as well. Hate to say the steering colum is were I would have checked but not replaced. If the cluster started goin crazy after they installed the new colum they could have squashed some wires.

Sounds like the original problem was probably the shift interlock and now they have created new problems. Also check your brake lights. The shift interlock works through the brake light switch.
