Engine will not turn over

I have a 2000 ford expidetion that the engine is locked. My son was driving and ignored the oil light. The engine turned off and will not start. When you turn the key the engine tries to start but will not turn over. Please help!

Was there a loud noise when it stoped working? It sounds too me like the engine is toast and you'll need a new one

Engine did not make a loud noise. Someone told me that there might be a safty device and it needs to be reset. Do you know anything about this?

I know big rigs have those type of things. Tho i've never heard of a smaller vehicle have one. The way i've reset those on big rigs is by puttin oil into it. The sensor then senses oil and willl allow the engine to turn over. Try that. If that doesn't work then i'm guessing a special tool IE: Computer
