2000 Ford Windstar No Heat

Everything else works great.

But, no heat from heater !

No cooling or water problems. So I don't suspect a thermostat problem.

Can't locate a corresponding fuse.

Blowers work fine.

Can't figure it out. Help please?

Hi marco47 and TY for the donation

Thermostat could be sticking and also the heater core could be clogged and defective heater control valve, when everything here is okay -start checking the air mix/blend/mode doors, vacuum/actuators and HVAC control module

Thank You for your responce.
I am told by a local repair shop that it is most likley the heater core in this model. They say it is an eight hour job to remove the dash and get to the heater core That would be a lot more than I could afford.

I am pretty handy with a set of tools and an engine but I know nothing about auto heater repairs.

Since I don't even know where the acuators are nor do I know how to get to the heater core, I would have to purchase a Repair Manual and attempt it myself. Would it be covered in the manual?

How would you advise me?

A service manual will tell you more on removal than a repair manual. I've check on Mit1 and Alldata for removal procedures there's nothing all I got is below

Hi Raz,

Me again,
Per your advise, I believe I have narrowed my heater problems to the control valve under the dash.

I hear a distinct "clicking' noise comeing from it.

Problem is : I can see it but I can't get to it.

If I knew how to remove the center electronics console (radio & A/C controls, I probably could get there.

A. Do you agree with my conclusions?

B. Any Ideas on how to get to it?

Not sure never done it on this vehicle:

REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery. CAUTION: The slider knobs are illuminated using a LEDs. Use care not to damage them when removing the slider knobs.

Remove the ash receptacle.
Remove the audio unit. For additional information, refer to Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc.

Remove the screws.

Unsnap the panel.

Is the blower motor coming On if so-recheck below

Test the thermostat, the heater control valve and heater core-BTW did you check these items earlier?

I think I found the problem.

I took the accuator out and and took it apart.
After verifying it was getting power and the motor was running. I found a tiny gear wheel that had some missing teeth. So it was not opening the door.

The gear is about the size of a dime but I dont know of anyway to replace the gear and ford wants $65 for a new accutor.

I appreciate all of your help.

Yes,
and it wasn't difficult at all.
I removed the bottm portion of the dash console and the ashtray assembly.

From there I was ableto get to the accuator although it was a tight fit.

After I removed the accuatior and opened it, I found a tiny gear with a few stripped teeth. That was the problem as it was not opening the doors.

I have temporairly opened the doors using a scrwdriver and the Heater works great.

I have found replacement accuators from $70 to $36 on line and I will be ordering one today.
