Hi,
I have a 1998 ford contor that will not start.
the check engine light came on last night and the car lacked power.
I drove it about 3 miles today and it staled and would not start.
I checked the fuel and spark and thay are fine.
could it be the timing belt?
the car has 90000 miles and has the 2.0 engine size.
I also replaced the fuel filter and sparks plugs.
Please help.

If there is not spark, start checking the fuses. There is a fuse panel under the hood that has ignition and engine circuit fuses and some relays that could be bad. Check these out. Also check the fuses in the dash. If all the fuses are good, try to switch some of the relays around (make sure they are the same) to see if it is a problem there.
