Opening tail light assembley 93 ford thunderbird

1993 ford thunderbird lx, 106,000 mi.The tail light/running light assembly on the trunk on the drivers side is burnt out. how to i get the lense off to change the bulb

You don't take the assembly apart. It should slide out after you remove the nuts holding it in and the buld should be fastened in the back of it.

Ive got the assembly off the car, there are no nuts on the assembley except those that secure it to the trunk lid. Just the stems that the nuts go on to are on the back side of the lense. This is the Large oblong rectangle lense on the trunk with the thunderbird logo on it. i still dont understand how to open this thing! the bulb is inside it
