1993 Ford Tempo 4 cyl Automatic

My 1993 ford tempo is not starting everytime.I just replaced the cylonoid and i still have the problem. It usually will start if it has recently been driven but if it has sat for awhile it wont start. If I turn the key over and then touch metal to two parts of the cylinoid it sparks and then the car will start when i turn the key over.I was recently hit by someone in my car so i dont know if that may have anything to do with it but the battery cables were also changed and my dad cant seem to figure out why its doing this.

I would replace the entire starter. but first I would change the starter relay and then if that doesnt help any, then change the entire starter
