2002 FORD TAURUS 50,000.... MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE GOT THE Code P0401, I researched the code and it came back as EGR Valve, We
took it to a Mechanic and had the EGR replaced which did turn the light
off for a day or two and then it came back on, also the car seems to stall
or as she says all the lights on dash come on while driving when AC is
turned on. Supposidly the mechanic checked for vacume leaks and took the
car to Auto Zone to have the code cleared and again this only lasted one
day. i am stumped, can you please help?

Did you replace the egr valve itself?? If so, were there issues with it's operation?? Wouldn't hold vacuum??? Stuck in the closed position??? How about the pressure sensor that controls the egr valve?? 99 times it's that sensor that fails, it has a very poor track record,, not just on your model year, pretty much all of them. p0401 does not directly implicate the egr valve as the problem... If these other problems, dash lights, a\c occured after your repair, hopefully something was left unhooked accidently. A lot of these emssion parts, I'm not sure exactly what parts, are covered under an extended 8yr, 80k miles warranty as dictated by the Feds, check with your dealer for info on this, is your car still under factory warranty??? Maybe save some money.
