Slight smell of gas

I have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL 84000 miles. When I first start the car. There is a slight gas smell. It disapates and there isn't any leaks from the gas tank. Any ideas where it is coming from and how to fix it?

Hard to say just yet. Is there a check engine light on?

No, engine light is not on. Car runs and sounds fine. Very puzzling.

Hard to say what is happening. It may be a seapage kind of thing, may be an evap problem, may be not buring fuel effiently. My guess is that a check engine light may set. May be sending uit lines roting and seaping, but I would expect it to be more consistant.
