I purchased a 1996 Ford Taurus LX with 122,000 miles. It' a 6 cylinder...3 liter. When I pull out in drive it only moves a few feet then it jerks a little and stops moving. If I then put it back in park and then in drive again it does the same thing over & over... I have no problems going in reverse!! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Did you get any help anywhere? I thought my son's car was stalling in drive, and not in reverse, but it only did it one night. Does your steering lock up and engine shut off? That's what his did, and I call that stalling. It sounds similar to your problem. DOes yours do it all the time?

THis time it stalled twice in drive, then went OK. Later that day it stalled at a light when it was time to pull out. Still trying to get that figured out.

NO, no help yet!!
My Taurus does not stall at all, it just stops moving forward after a few feet. If I go in reverse, it's fine!!

Just me again...I was just out in the Taurus and drove it up the alley in 2nd gear and it ran FINE!! Tried it in First and it did good for 2 &1/2 blocks then it stopped getting power (just started revving from the gas being pressed) so I put it back in 2nd and made it home!!( Still only moves a few feet in drive.) Now when I go in reverse with the gas pressed, it makes kinda like a squealing sound and when I take my foot off the gas and coast it doesn't make any noise while I'm moving in reverse. I'm SO,SO sorry for these questions, but I have no clue what I'm doing here....THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH !!! I appreciate you guys trying to help me out with this. Any ideas for me now to try???
