HEATER CORE question

Hi-my car is a 2000 Ford Taurus 3.0, with 130,000+ miles. I just replaced the water pump because I have been having problems with only luke warm/cooler air coming out when the heat is on. (I live in WI, and it's hard to clear your windshield when only cool air is blowing out!) That seemed to help a little, but not enough. Other people have suggested that the heater core is shot. Where exactly is it located? What would be the EASIEST way to get to it?

I would be more apt to think the thermostat is stuck open. The heater core is in the firewall on the passenger side. It can be backflushed by disconnecting the hoses at the core and running a hose with gentle pressure from the outlet hose, through the core and out the inlet.
