2003 Ford Taurus panel lights

2003 Ford Taurus. Lights on panel do not work. They willcome on occasionally but at night I can not see how fast I am going, What could cause this?

Possible bad switch and or wiring
check and suspect bulbs in the cluster

Try and move the switch and adjuster to different spots as watching the lights if they come on and or flicker suspect switch remove and check it

if no light and no change
or  lights on in the cluster then I would suspect the light bulbs in the back of cluster
need to remove cluster and replace
