The car is rarely driven. Assumed that car door was left open for a couple of days. But that was 2 or 3 months ago. Tried starting the car but it would not start. The lights and radio would come on but when the key was turn it would only make a clicking noise. So we tested the battery and it was determined that the battery was bad. So we replaced the battery. Once the new battery was installed we tried starting. When the key was turned the car immediately revved to 3k RPMs and it was making a loud revving noise without any pressure on the gas pedal. We thought that it was doing that because it hadnt been ran for several months but it did not cool down. Within a few minutes the engine became overheated toward bottom right. It was at night so we could see that it was glowing red from the heat. The engine began to smoke so we turned it off. We are not sure what problems is. The car has never had any mechanical problems. Any suggestions?
