Taurus 3.0 six cylinder EFI approx. 120000 miles. I have a loud noise coming from the serpentine belt. It sounds like a bearing is bad. How do you release the tension on the belt so that I can try to determine what bearing is making the noise? The water pump seep hole appears to be good (not leaking). Any suggestions on what to check. The sound is similar to a high piercing bird chirping continously.

It should be spring loaded. You should be able to use a 15mm wrench to pull the tensioner and relax the serpentine.
