Engine Mechanical problem

Just a followup. I had asked what could be causing my car to try to stall on cold mornings, and was told to check the idle air control valve. First I cleaned it, and also turned the accessory on to see if it moved at all. Didn't budge. Bought a new one and put it in, and I still have the same problem, car still wants to cut out till it's warm. Should I disconnect the battery cable so the computer learns it? Any other ideas what could be wrong?
